Howl’s Girl [Don/Caspia/Howl]
“Now, I want you to be on best behavior. None of your usual stupidity. I’m sure she wouldn’t even be amused by it, anyway.” Howl said, straightening his tie. “Have I got anything in my teeth?” He asked, smiling at Don. The other man shook his head in response. “You know, this must be quite a girl to have you worked up. I knew you’d fall in love eventually.”
Howl flushed and frowned. “Don’t say that. I don’t even think that she really wants me.”
“Why wouldn’t she want you? You’re lovely. You know, I should tell you about this girl I’ve got on my mind. Beautiful, blonde, sweet as can be—”
Howl interrupted, not really paying any attention. “Oh, there she is!” He beamed, looking out the window like an excited child. Don stepped in front of him to peer at the girl, then quickly found that she was the exact woman who had been on his mind since their first meeting.
“Oh.” He whispered, feeling a lump form in his throat. “You’re right, Howl. She’s beautiful, really.”
“Told you.” He said, then punched Don’s shoulder playfully. “What about your little blonde? We could hit the scene with our girls like we did back in the city.”
Don thought quickly. “It’s, uh, Violet. But she’s got a fellow already so I’m afraid that it’s not meant to be. Oh well. I’ll love again.” He said, opening the door before Howl could ask anymore questions.
“Hello there!” Don beamed, ushering the girl inside. “I had no idea that Howl had such good taste. Nice to see you again.”
Howl crinkled his nose and closed the door behind them. “I didn’t know that you’d met before.”
“Oh, yes. Here, come sit on the couch.” He said, leading Caspia over to an elegant looking dining room—Don’s taste would require nothing less than the best.
